Born in 1989, in New York, the third child and second daughter of Miguel Rojas, an exiled chilean doctor, and Raffaella Rojas (née Constanza), an italoamerican baker, María lead a fairly uneventful childhood and adolescence among her six siblings. She was a good student, excelling particularly in Languages and Literature, and would, after High School, go to study Criminal Justice.  At the insistence of her grandmother Margherita, a very devout woman who María was very close to, she also studied Ancient Greek and Latin in her teen years to be able to understand the Scriptures better. It was after the death of Margherita that María decided for a change in her life and moved to Hope County, Montana, where she applied for the post of Junior Deputy.

What would come later with the Project at Eden's Gate is another story.

María is, at first glance, quite a calm presence. She tends to be soft spoken and diplomatic, preferring to deal with stuff through discussions at first. It's only when she's pushed to the brink, that she'll use violence (Just like what happens with the Project), and even then, it takes some more to make her lose her cool completely. 
She is also a very affectionate and protective person with those she cares for, which won her the moniker of "Mother Bear" among her siblings. Despite her line of work, she tries to see the good in every person, even those that others might consider irredeemable monsters.

Languages: Speaks fluent English and Spanish. Speaks Italian. Has knowledge of Ancient Greek and Latin.
Firearms and other weapons: Fairly proficient in the use of several of them.
Self-Defence: Purple belt in Karate.
